About Me
Hi! I'm Trong Nghia (Martin) Le from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I graduate from Miami University (OH) in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Mathematics Education. I then taught at Mt. Healthy High School during the 2024 school year. Currently, I'm working towards a Master's of Science in Mathematics also at Miami University.
My interests include all types of "sports-ball", cooking, gaming, and helping people learn things they thought they never could. I also love photography - every photo you find on my page was taken by me!
My experience with literacy was quite rocky at first due to how literature and writing was taught in Vietnamese public schools. To keep it brief, I did not appreciate having to describe my nonexistent pet cat or sing the praises of poems I could hardly comprehend. Most of writing to me was mindless regurgitation and padding out essays with embroidery because longer papers get higher grades. It was not until I came to the U.S that my writing become more free and honest to how I am as a writer and a person. I came to like writing and could appreciate the beauty and joy brought by literacy, one text at a time.
Now, going one step further, I'm exploring literacy beyond the confines of conventional essays and written words to reach a more progressive definition for literacy as well as a more critical examination of its nature. In this portfolio, I wish to present evidence of my growth as I work with literacy through various one-pagers on topics pertaining to literacy, a collage of 50 "Texts-to-teach" that shows how I plan to incorporate what I've learned into my future teaching, and a research paper on primary language loss.
